Frequently asked questions
How do location reminders actually work?+
When you pin a reminder to a place, Remloc sets a small geofence around it. Your phone watches for when you enter that zone in the background, and fires one local notification the moment you arrive — even if the app is closed.
Does Remloc drain my battery?+
No. Geofencing uses your phone's low-power location services rather than continuously tracking you. Remloc only wakes up when you cross into a reminder's zone.
Do I have to keep the app open?+
No. Reminders trigger in the background. For this to work reliably, please allow location access “Always” (not just “While Using”) when prompted, and keep notifications enabled for Remloc.
My reminder didn't fire when I arrived. What happened?+
The most common causes are location permission set to “While Using” instead of “Always”, battery-saver/low-power mode pausing background activity, or notifications being muted for Remloc. Check those three first, then try recreating the reminder with a slightly larger radius.
What is magic capture?+
Instead of filling out a form, you can type a note, dictate a voice memo, or paste a screenshot. Remloc extracts the task, guesses a category, and suggests a matching place nearby — you just confirm.
Which countries is Remloc available in?+
Remloc is built for global use and launching first in Nigeria, with more regions rolling out. If it isn't live where you are yet, contact us and we'll let you know when it arrives.
Is my location data private?+
Your location is used to trigger your reminders. We don't sell your data or use it to track you across other apps. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Troubleshooting reminders
If a reminder doesn't fire when you arrive, run through this checklist:
- Location permission is set to “Always”, not “While Using the App”.
- Notifications are enabled for Remloc in your phone settings.
- Battery saver / low-power mode is off, or Remloc is exempt from background restrictions.
- The reminder's radius isn't too small for a busy area — try widening it.
- Your device has a recent GPS fix (briefly open a maps app outdoors to refresh it).
Delete your account & data
You're always in control of your data. To delete your account and everything associated with it:
- In the app, go to Account → Privacy → Delete account, or
- Email nnaemeka.ugwokegbe@echo1ict.com.ng from your account address and we'll remove your data within 30 days.
